> Arms > Career > Career Counseling
It may be a shocking fact but it’s definitely a reality: At least half of the current medical students would have reconsidered their choice of a medical career if they really knew what it was really about. Egypt is in absolute lack of proper career counseling and when it comes to medicine, we call this a crime of elephantine proportions.
The “Age-group” approach
- High school graduates and pre-meds:
Wouldn’t you like to hear from current medical students, young medical graduates and young doctors, about their medical experience? In EMSA we do that for you. Right after high school exams and before you begin putting your college preferences, we invite you to our “Medicine Dissection Session” to tell you all about it.
- Medical Freshmen:
Our local branches constantly arrange orientations and get-togethers for first year medical students to let them know how things work in their new medical school. We believe that hearing it from your colleagues makes all the difference. We also arrange with our university contacts, different student support services that bridge the gap between the 2 components of the medical learning process.
- Final years students and young graduates:
You’re about to finish your due undergraduate-medical-student time and, of course, you have absolutely no clue what’s coming ahead. This is where EMSA does its magic. Being the first and only NGO that gathers both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in the same place, we carry out a number of services that takes advantage of this amazing opportunity. To begin with, our members will always be dealing with post-graduate students during their work in EMSA. Second, through the formation
of the different EMSA Clubs, medical graduates can continue working in EMSA and making their own sets of activities that involve their fellow younger students, to provide them with career orientation seminars, one to one career counseling, and of course, our groundbreaking mentorship system that enables medical students to choose their mentor according to his career choices. It’s EMSA magic the way you’ve never seen it before.
- Post graduate students:
What kind of post graduate studies is best for you? how to apply for an international equivalency? What are the skills one needs to have before applying for a specific job? The EMSA postgraduate Clubs are here to provide those answers in a direct, simple way, from peer to peer. Maybe through our contacts and partners we can be of any help. Or maybe you have something to say that can benefit your colleagues. EMSA is definitely the appropriate forum for that.
