The National Hepatology & Tropical
Medicine Research Institute (NHTMRI) is an
institution that contributes to the improvement of health in
Egypt
through the pursuit of excellence in research, basic and
advanced
training and constancy in tropical medicine. To achieve this
mission
the NHTMRI will continue to enhance its role as leading
institution
for research, national and international center of excellence in
tropical medicine in Egypt and Middle East.
The Institute carries out applied
clinical researches, using recent
investigation methods in the field of endemic diseases
especially
Schistisoma, GIT parasites, corresponding conclusions and
recommendations on are supplied to the Ministry of Health for
its
application on the National level.
The Institute is considered one
of the international research centers,
thus selected by WHO and its Tropical Medicine Research Program
for
carrying out clinical research in the field of medications for
tropical diseases. As a matter of fact, it is the only research
center in this field in
the Middle East.
During the last years, the
institute expanded its field of research to
cover other medical fields; like liver diseases, diseases of
GIT,
pediatrics, skin diseases, environmental problems, surgery,
epidemiology, and insect-transmitted diseases.
